Community Service

Our Chapter encourages volunteer service by our members for the benefit of the community.

Recent Chapter Activities Include:

Support of a local food pantry

Donations of white socks, stamps, soap, calendars and monetary contributions to the Lebanon Veterans Hospital

Contributions to a School Backpack Program providing weekend meals for needy students

Support of a summer lunch program

Assistance to a Back to School Project which provided needy students with a haircut, new outfit and shoes

Volunteer of the Year Award

Our Community Services Committee tallies the responses of individual chapter members about their service and recognizes the member who has the most hours served within the calendar year.  Our Chapter recognizes that member at the Spring meeting.  William Minsker was recognized with this award at our Spring Chapter Meeting in May.

Retirees Giving Back

PASR held its biennial convention this fall in Lancaster where PASR members were concerned with not only PA schools and children but with those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

During the convention, $4,750 was raised and donated to Mennonite Disaster Services (MDS) of Lititz, PA for the Backpacks Program in Bloomington, TX.  This was combined with a contribution made by the Greene County Chapter making the total PASR contribution over $6300.

If you would like to make a contribution you may do so to MDS, 583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA 17543.  Please note on the memo line of your check that the contribution is from DCPASR for the Bloomington Schools Backpack Program.
