Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees
Our membership is made up of retirees from the following school districts: CAIU, Central Dauphin, Dauphin County Technical School, Derry Township, Halifax, Harrisburg City, Lower Dauphin, Middletown, Millersburg, Steelton Highspire, Susquehanna Township, and Upper Dauphin.
We are former teachers, administrators, counselors, nurses, aides, secretaries,
bus drivers, cafeteria workers and maintenance staff.
We support PASR's mission to serve others, support public education, and help
one another enjoy retirement.
At Dauphin County Chapter PA Association of School Retirees, we're passionate about providing information
to those of you still working but looking forward to becoming retirees.
Please consider attending our annual FREE workshop if you are within five years of reaching your planned retirement date.
Our speakers will provide you with the latest information about the benefits of PASR membership, a variety of insurance
options and what to know before you schedule your exit counseling!
Saturday, April 20, 2024 -- 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon
The Unitarian Church of Harrisburg, 1280 Clover Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17113
Registration for this event will begin March 18 and end April 16.
This will be an in-person event ONLY!
A sincere "Thank You" to everyone who responded to the survey by updating the information we have on file. If you requested future newsletters electronically, this change will begin with the April issue.
We are looking within our own membership for individuals who have a
special talent --musical/artist or a hobby/special interest they might be willing to share
as a brief program at our Spring and Fall Meetings.
At a recent Fall meeting our own Mary Lou Evans (Derry Township) entertained us with the story of how she became interested in Department 56 collectables, how she acquired some of the now retired pieces, and the broad history of the development of these seasonal collectibles.
She brought examples of several of the collections she maintains, a photo album of her pieces and some of the unique ways in which she displays them, both in her own home and at the Ronald McDonald house in Hershey.
This has been her passion since she retired.

PASR is committed to doing everything possible to influence the State Legislature to grant a COLA for school retirees but your help is needed. It will take everyone contacting their legislators to influence them to vote in favor a a COLA. There is money available and there are bills written to make this happen but they are not moving. The only way to change this is by a massive effort by our members (and other retirees that you know) to contact and pressure legislators to help us.
